First Things First GET.IT.OUT #carpet

You know what gets in the way of your house renovation blog? RENOVATING YOUR HOUSE
So now that I am reestablished in this blog-business.

Here is me signing a 1,000 pieces of paper purchasing a house. Chris and I basically got the keys and ran. We couldn't wait to start exploring the house more. I KNEW in my soul that this house had so much potential I was so excited to start uncovering 100 years of hidden details.

Chris and Cory happy homeowners!
Here we are clean and well rested (This changes pretty quickly.)

Here are some photos of the house without the furniture in it. This is the night we got the keys.

Living room
Living room (Why is the trim on the floor white??)
Dining-room
Dining room looking into hallway to bedrooms
Weird Panorama I took of the center bedroom Bedroom #2. This is the room that I eventually claim as my office. Please note the extraordinarily ridiculous wallpaper, close ups to come.

Tiny bathroom

This is the Hallway between the bedrooms and Dining room

So, I said first things first... I meant it.

This hallway carpet has got to GO.

Note: Please please wear face masks for any and all carpet projects AND gloves, aint no body got time for Tetanus.

Chris Rippin' tack strips like a beast. The way we unattached the carpet from the tack strips was pretty easy. The carpet and padding were so old the carpet basically ripped like paper. Very gently, we took the claw end of the hammer and pried up the tack strips making sure we didn't damage the floor or stab ourselves in the process. Those things are sharp. If you can't get enough leverage from the hammer and the trip put a small piece of wood under the claws and it will help you pry easier without the added pressure to damage the floor.

DO YOU SEE THIS?? Covered in 2 layers of padding and 1" thick carpet. 100 year old 12 foot long planked hardwood floors. If only you guys could hear the sounds I was making after we cleaned a spot. So beautiful.

1 hour in the house. This is what we get into. So satisfying.
